A resource address resolved from the document’s location or base URL.

A closer look at the concept

A file name alone points to a neighboring file; ../ goes up one folder. A path starting with / is resolved from the site root.

SIMPLE EXAMPLE

From articles/intro.html, ../about.html points to about.html in the parent folder.
